Whether you are looking for serenity and peace or the next exhilarating adventure, Türkiye is your go-to tourist destination. Paragliding in Türkiye is a well-known and loved activity that is offered in many places. This blog explores all the best paragliding destinations to make your holiday a cherished and memorable experience.

What is Paragliding?

Paragliding is an aerial activity that may be classified as an adventure or competitive sport. It is a popular adventure sport, with many enthusiasts worldwide. The activity requires a “glider” and a “harness”.  The glider aircraft does not have an engine and depends on aerodynamics to stay airborne. It is lightweight and has a fabric canopy. The pilot sits/reclines in the harness that hangs below the glider. Since there is no motor, paragliding depends on air currents for flying and steering. Unlike other similar sports (E.g. Hang gliding), paragliders launch from the ground. The pilot runs down a slope and uses their feet to launch the glider aircraft into the air.

How Paragliding Works?

A paraglider uses essentially the same principles of lift versus gravity as an engine-powered aircraft. However, in the case of paragliding, there is no motor or engine. When the pilot runs down a slope, the air passes faster above the wing (sloped surface) than below it. This results in lower air pressure above the wing and higher pressure beneath it, which generates lift. Paragliding pilots use their feet to increase momentum by running down a slope. That is why the term “foot launched” is used for paragliding.
